Marlwood School’s David Giles, who fought at -81kg, took silver in the year 10 and 11 category. Reece Peacock, of Abbeywood Community School, picked up the county’s second silver medal in the -66kg competition for years 8 and 9.

Ashton Park School’s Sasha Foxon of year 8 and 9 picked up a bronze medal in the -44kg competition. Ben Guest, Rachel Bennett and Adriana Giles completed a quartet of bronze medallists for Bristol.

Paul Taylor, Bristol County Judo Chairman, was delighted with the efforts of the city’s young judoka.

“All of our players fought very well on Saturday at the British Schools Championships and eight medals were a great haul for us.

“These results show the talent that is emerging from the city and is a testament to their hard work and that of their clubs and everyone who supports them.”
