Hampshire-based Court
Lane and Havant Judo Clubs teamed up to host a masterclass with
top American judoka Nick Kossor and Portsmouth’s former Commonwealth
Champion Brett Caswell on Saturday 3 September.
Nick Kossor, 2010 US
National Champion, and winner of several Pan-American World Cup
medals, took time out on his journey home after competing at the
recent World Championships in Paris to visit Portsmouth and agreed
to run the sessions with fellow -60kg judoka Brett Caswell.

Both players demonstrated
a range of ground and standing techniques, exploring how to develop
a basic technique into a competition skill, and responses to common
contest situations.

Court Lane Chairman
Tony Brown said: “It was very good of Nick to agree to give up
a day of his stopover in the UK to run these sessions for us.
The two sessions that he ran with Brett were well received by
both the children and adults, and both players made a great impression.
Nick especially was very impressed with the attitude and behaviour
of the children who attended.”
