Eastern Area holds successful Kata weekend in Thetford

The Eastern Area recently held a successful Kata weekend on saturday 12 and Sunday 13 November at Breckland Leisure Centre Thetford.

World-renowned Kata coaches Tina and Dennis Penfold were the tutors for the weekend,

Saturday was spent working on Ju-no-Kata as a great deal of information and enjoyment was gained from the work on this Kata throughout the day, Tina and Dennis showed great skill and good communications as they maintained the interest and gained maximum effort from all on the mat.

Sunday was spent on Kodokan-Goshin-Jutsu as the judoka were introduced to the weapons they then started to work on the Kata once again.

The method of demonstration/teaching by Dennis and Tina immediately caught the interest of the students and great progress was made with good humor and hard work and an understanding of Kata was gained by all those attending the weekend.

Eastern Area Director of Examiners John Dearden said: "Many thanks to Tina and Dennis for their hard work over the weekend once again demonstrating their enthusiasm, skill, knowledge and their highly successful coaching approach to Kata.

"I have again received several requests for more Kata weekends and to host an official Kata examination day, I am working on the possibility of introducing both early in the New Year watch this space."
