Kettering Premier Judo Club to host former World Champion and Roy Inman OBE

Kettering Premier Judo Club has announced training sessions with former World Champion Craig Fallon and distinguished coach Roy Inman.

Inman, who was the British Judo Association’s National Coach for over 15 years, will take a session for players and coaches on Saturday 10th July while famed judoka Fallon will oversee the action on Sunday May 23rd.

Inman has guided some of British Judo’s greatest talents to glory, including 13 World Championships and 6 Olympic medals. The 8 th Dan become the UK Coach of the Year in 1991 and was awarded an O.B.E for services to sport from H.M. the Queen in 1992.

Fallon, 27, who has taken a sabbatical since the 2008 Beijing Olympics, has firmly established himself as one of the finest fighters of his generation. The English player joined the legendary Neil Adams as only Britain’s second male judoka to hold a World and European title simultaneously, having won the crowns in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

Laurence Kenyon, Kettering Premier Judo Club’s Development Manager, said: “The ‘Working with Champions’ event with Craig will be a fantastic weekend for everyone at the club and the community.

“Roy is one of the most knowledgeable and talented people in his fields and will provide some invaluable lessons for those attending.

“We expect a huge amount of interest from players and coaches for both events and would advise people to book their place for the event sooner rather than later.

The club, who were awarded their Bronze Clubmark Award in 2006, have also been recognised for their steadfast efforts in delivering a well-run and enjoyable sports experience for their community.

At the Northamptonshire Sports Awards t hey won Development Club of the Year in 2008 and were runners-up for the Community Club of the Year in 2009 .

“We’ve also started a new Saturday morning class through the Sports Unlimited Programme which has encouraged a number of young people and lots of adults to take up the sport,” said Kenyon, himself a 1 st Dan.

Dr. Andrew Moshanov, Technical Adviser for the British Judo Association, is organising the ‘Train with a Champion’ master classes with Craig Fallon.

“We’ve had a lot of interest and Craig will also be taking master class sessions at Headcorn Judo Club and Margate in May-June.”

The club train at William Knibb Centre Dojo, Alfred Street, Kettering, Northants, NN16 8AE. Junior beginners train on Tuesday and Thursday at 18:30 – 19:30 while Juniors (advanced) train on the same days at 20:30 – 21:45. Junior beginners also train on Saturday at 10:00 – 11:00 while senior beginners follow at 11:00 – 12:00.

The British Judo Association is the National Governing Body for the Olympic Sport of judo in Great Britain.
