Judo starlets dominate Kettering Sports Awards

Two teenage stars from Kettering Premier Judo Club stole the show at the Kettering Sports Awards on Friday.

Megan Twigg, 13, of Kettering Premier Judo Club, scooped both the Young Female Achiever of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year awards while 14-year-old judoka Ian Roberts won Young Male Achiever of the Year

Megan said: “I’m completely shocked but really, really happy. It’s amazing.

“I hope it will inspire new young judo players to get into it. I’m so pleased.”

Megan won gold in the British Schools Championships, silver at the Nottingham Junior Open, and has been crowned British Champion over the past year.

Dad Matthew Twigg, who was a world champion Filipino stick fighting champion and top-10 discus thrower, said: “I’m amazingly proud.”
