Northern Ireland’s Kookateki Judo Club scoops Clubmark silver award

Kookateki Judo Club has become the first sports club in Northern Ireland to be accredited with the prestigious Sports NI Clubmark silver award.

Sport Northern Ireland Clubmark is the country’s new quality standard for junior sports clubs. The programme aims to identify, develop, accredit and recognise high quality junior sports clubs and the contribution that they make to the development of sport in Northern Ireland.

The flourishing Kookateki Judo Club, only formed in February 2010, has become a prominent judo club in the country with five training venues across North Belfast.

Jonathan Cooke recives Clubmark award

Club Coach Jonathan Cooke said: "We are delighted with our new award which reinforces our reputation as a club committed to quality. Accreditation will undoubtedly help us to recruit and retain members.

“Kookateki Judo Club’s silver clubmark shows the continued determination and effort the club puts into its development. The club is very forward thinking and has great aspirations to expand its schools links programme and to increase membership. This achievement is a continued sign of the way in which the Olympic sport of judo is evolving within the area.”
