Horncastle Judo Club has
announced the first Tri Challenge Team event which will see the
hosts compete against neighbours Acorn Judo and Cherry Willingham
Judo Club on Sunday 3 July.
The Clubmark bronze outfit,
which only launched in October 2010, has made great strides in
developing a core of players and volunteers who will be heavily
involved at the event which will feature three sides of 15 judoka.
The teams of 10 juniors
and five seniors will battle for individual medals and their combined
points will decide the winner of the Mid Lincolnshire Trophy.
A training session will
be held after the event for players wishing to stay on and practice
with their competition rivals and club colleagues.
There will be a separate
training session after the competition for the willing players
that want to make a longer day of it.

Horncastle Judo Club coach
Trevor Jacklin said: “The event has been organised by all the
three club committees - Cherry Judo, Acorn Judo,
and Horncastle Judo Clubs - to increase the judo activity
in the area with all clubs hosting a return competition at
some point in the future.
“All proceeds we raise will go to a fund for a fun day out
or an event for the three clubs in the future.
“We will also stage a Clubmark
presentation, after we achieved the bronze award in just six months.
A special guest will make the presentation at the newly-refurbished Stanhope Hall,
the home of Horncastle Judo.
“I would like to take this
opportunity to thank all the tireless hard work put in by all
the committee members and all volunteers of the club.
Without them we would not have a club.”
