Southampton Solent University
hosted the second triangular judo meeting with their University
of Winchester and Southampton University counterparts on Sunday
5 December.
The hosts’ Sport Solent
St Mary’s Leisure Centre played host to the event as the club,
who only launched eight weeks ago, continues to make a mark in
Hampshire.
Southampton Solent University
Judo Club is led by European Judo Union level 5 coach Lance Wicks
who spearheaded the latest triangular session with support from
Gary Hill of Southampton University and Marc Thomson from University
of Winchester.
The well-received training
featured technical work, drills and randori as the students got
to grips with their local peers.

“It's great to get shown
things by different coaches as it really helps you pick up tips
on how to do things,” said a student.
Peter Beard, British Judo
South East Development Officer, said: “The Winchester and Solent
clubs are growing steadily since they started at the beginning
of this term.
“We are finding the University
Student Voucher Book scheme has helped get new clubs started in
Universities up and down the country."
