Wayne enjoyed a successful judo career during which time he was crowned Commonwealth Champion in 1994 and was on the British reserve list for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Wayne also competed at the European Championships at both junior and senior level. He was also British Champion on a number of occasions.

He has been employed by the British Judo Association (BJA) since 2005, and is a BJA qualified Club Coach and 4th Dan Black Belt. Over the last year, Wayne divided his time between the British Judo Association and Leicester Tigers, where he coached judo to the Tigers first-team, Tigers Academy and the club’s four Elite Player Development Centres. Nowadays, he is managing a team of Schools Coaches in the Enjoy Judo Programme.
