Five golds were won
by Brits at the 2007 British Open, which took place on the 27
th & 28 th January – Sally Conway (-70kg), Sian Wilson (-78kg),
Simone Callender (+78kg), Matthew Purssey (-73kg) and Peter Cousins
(-90kg).
Four of the five golds
were won in all British finals. Sally Conway faced Samantha Lowe
on day one. The Junior World silver medallist managed to take
the win after putting a wazari score on the board in the last
40 seconds. Also, on day one Sian Wilson beat Michelle Rogers
in the final to take gold in the –78kg, and Sarah Adlington had
to settle for silver in the +78kg loosing to Simone Callender.
The final match of the
weekend saw Peter Cousins beat Winston Gordon in the final of
the –90kg weight category with a yuko score.
15 countries took part
at the event, which took place at K2 in Crawley. Britain won 32
medals.
