Women and Girls Initiative
Success for first Adult Beginner Course in Hackney

The Adult Begginers Course initiative was designed by the British Judo Association to promote Judo for first timers and make coming into the sport easier for adult novices.

The course takes place over a ten-week period and provides attendees with tuition, a British Judo adult licence, a judo suit and the opportunity to take their first grading. The fee of only £60 represents fantastic value for this initial step en route to the famous black belt.

Capital London Judo Club hosted its first of ten ABC sessions on Wednesday 21 September with a great turn-out of novice judokas and more planning to take part in next week’s session. Capital London Judo Club, which formed in early 2010, is supported by Arsenal F.C. and Hackney Counci and run by Head Coach Gabor Szanyi-Nagy, who will also lead the ABC sessions.

This first session provided a great start for the ABC initiative for Gabor, who said:“It was great to see so many people keen to learn and wanting to take part, and even better to hear that more are interested in joining up next week too.”

ABC sessions at Capital London Judo Club take place every Wednesday from 19.30-21.00. It is still possible to sign up for the remainder of the course in Hackney. To do so, and for more information on other ABC venues, visit www.britishjudo.org.uk/home/ABC.php
