Following the Government’s
“Protections of Freedoms” Bill announcement British Judo wish
to advise that at this stage our procedures remain unchanged with
regards to CRB checks.
British Judo’s current
policy is to carry out CRB checks on volunteers who have positions
which involve intensive or extensive contact with children, which
allows them to a build a relationship with those children, and
those whose role has supervisory function over children.
This is aligned with the
Bill, which states that that CRB checks will only apply to those
who have the most close and regular contact with children or vulnerable
adults.
British Judo believe that
CRB checks are just one piece of the safeguarding puzzle and that
clubs that exercise good overall safeguarding policies and procedures
will be safe places for children and participants.
When detailed guidance
for the Sport Sector is released British Judo will review its
policy and procedures and advise clubs accordingly.
If you have any queries
regarding CRB checking in your Club please contact the Safeguarding/CRB
Team at BJA Head Office.
