British Judo Association Secures Coaching Bursary

Level 2 Coaching Bursaries Available

The British Judo Association has successfully secured funding to support coaches wishing to gain their Level 2 Coaching Qualification.

The funding is a Sport England underspend and is being managed via the National Skills Academy. This funding priority for Judo is to support Level 2 coaches and this covers both full Level 2 programme and the assimilation/fast-track programme.

The bursary is available to any coach who has not applied for any other coaching bursary through regional Skills Academy schemes – examples ESF funding in the South-East, North-West, Yorks and Humberside. Please contact the National Skills Academy (details below) to check if you are eligible.

Candidates can apply for 66% of the total cost of the course on a first come first served basis. A proportion of this funding will be given prior to the course starting with the remaining allocation given upon completion.

FUNDING REQUIREMENTS

Coaches may seek funding prior to enrolling onto a level 2 course.

Candidates must have enrolled and been successfully accepted onto their level 2 course prior to March 31st 2010.

Enrolment from a British Judo perspective means we have received your application form and payment for the course.

FUNDING PROCESS

ALL funding applications must be made directly to the National Skills Academy and NOT the BJA. This is a

UK Nationally run scheme by an external partner and so please contact the National Skills Academy direct if you have any questions about this bursary.

Funding applications must be completed on-line via a web-portal.

The National Skills Coaching Bursary web portal will be live shortly, but in the meantime please email joanna.kirk@sportactivensa.co.uk at the National Skills Academy, who is managing the bursary on our behalf, with British Judo Level 2 Bursary in the subject header to register your interest.

The National Skills Academy will then contact the BJA to inform us of your funding application.

Once we have received your level 2 course application and course payment the BJA will then confirm these details with the National Skills Academy and payment will then be made direct to the candidate.

To accommodate this bursary scheme we are looking at additional level 2 courses so please check the BJA for updates. Please also register your interest with your Area staff or via the on-line register of interest as we will try to accommodate additional demand to ensure we utilise this bursary.
