The promotion and registration
of BJA Dan grades is a vital part of the BJA and a number of administrative
changes are being implemented to maintain, improve and control
what is already a credible and quality structure. These changes are
required in order to afford greater access to records, more detailed
archiving and to establish a single point of control.
With effect from 1st May
2011, all correspondence including promotion applications and
grading sheets must be sent to BJA office and will be administered
by the National Dan Grade Administrator (NDGA) Sarah Gilbert.
All technical decisions will be implemented on behalf of the Promotions
Commission and Chairman Roy Inman by the National Director of
Examiners (NDE) Dave Horton-Jones. Jim Somerville will be supporting
and advising BJA staff until April 2012.
As current documentation
will have an incorrect address from 1st May, there will be a complete
re-issue of all Dan grading documentation to reflect these changes.
Documents will be available to download from the promotion page
of the BJA website in May 2011.
Normal operating hours
will be 09:30-16:30 Monday to Friday and straightforward promotion
registrations will be turned around in 5 working days. A 24-hour
express service will also be available for a charge of £15 payable
on application. This express service is subject to staff availability
and prior arrangement. Promotion registrations requiring further
investigation may take longer than 7 days.
A new Dan grade certificate
is also being launched to celebrate the centralisation of all
grades and this can be purchased from the BJA at a cost of £10.
There will eventually be
a full range of other services available and the BJA would appreciate
your patience in any delays that may occur during this period
of transition.
