Dear friends and colleagues
As many of you may be aware
Elvis Gordon is battling cancer and is in very poor health.
Elvis is one of the
best known judoka in GB history and we are asking his fellow competitors,
teammates and friends to support this great judoka in his time
of need by making a donation to the ‘Elvis Gordon Testimonial
Fund’. The British Judo Trust has donated
£1,000 to get the ball rolling and all of the Directors will be
making personal donations.
If you would like to contribute
please send your cheque payable to the ‘BJA’
for the attention of Donald Steel at Head Office.
You can also contribute
via bank transfer to:
Reference: Elvis
Account Name: British
Judo Trust
Bank: HSBC
Sort Code: 40-30-24
Account Number: 32536110
Please note there is some
urgency to this appeal as we are planning to present one big cheque
to Elvis from ‘his many friends in British Judo’ in early January
2011.
Please pass this information
to any other judo friends who you feel may wish to contribute.
We have also recently
been made aware of a fundraising appeal set up by Neil Adams to
support Elvis where he auctionined off one of his treasured gi’s
worn in the Olympic Games.
With the help of Fergus
Dullaghan, Co-editor of eDojo.tv, a fundraising page was set up
to accept donations using Paypal. The gi went to the person who
made the highest donation, which was Phil Hudson of Bishop Challoner
Judo Club.
"Even the strongest
of warriors still need their team mates and friends to help them
out from time to time," said Adams.
Their fundraising page
can be found at http://www.edojo.tv/m/fundraiser/view/Neil-Adams-Olympic-Judo-Gi
Please support these efforts!
Kind regards,
Board of Directors
