Yorkshire’s thriving Judo
Excellence Club in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, is seeking takeover
bids.
The long-running club,
which borders the North West and Yorkshire and Humberside regions,
is run by highly-regarded coach Karen Butler, who is moving to
France.
Their dojo has a fully
matted area (approx. 22m x 8m) with several safety mats as well
as male and female changing rooms, a kitchen and toilets.
“The dojo is rented
from local agent at a reasonable cost, rates and other utility
bills are minimal,” said Butler.
“This club has been established
for approximately 12 years and we have contributed a substantial
amount during this time to get it functioning as it is today
including renovating the building.
“We would therefore like
to recover these costs of £1000 from any interested parties. This
money would certainly be recovered within the first few months
of running the club.
“The club has enjoyed
great success over the past years and currently has one GB squad
member, 15-year-old Liam Tarandij, who has excelled under our
senior coach James McKeever.
“Anyone interested would
be inheriting a club that takes pride in its self discipline
approach and judo etiquette. All club members and parents
are devastated that we are moving to France and are extremely
anxious for somebody to take over. The judokas we have are a really
wonderful bunch.”
Training is currently held
on Saturday at 10:00 – 11:00 (ages 5-8) with juniors training
at 11:00 – 12:30.
There are also sessions
on Monday at 19:00 – 20:00 and Wednesday at 18:00 – 19:00 (age
5-8 years) with a juniors and seniors session following at 19:00
– 20:30.
The club charge £3.50 per
session. There’s discount for siblings and no annual fee.
