May Madness is now in full
swing, and there are some exciting events happening across the
country at various judo clubs.
BJA clubs have joined
in partnership with the British Judo Trust to help raise funds
for their club whilst supporting this worthwhile judo charity.
The fundraising events are also introducing the sport of judo
to new people and new areas. The clubs involved will donate 50%
of the money they raise to the British Judo Trust and will keep
50% to help with the development of their club.
The Torakan and Jersey
Judo Club’s have teamed up to produce a series of events together,
spaced over three evenings. The first will consist of juniors
completing a 15minute circuit training session at the Jersey Judo
Club, followed by the seniors in a 30min sponsored throw in. Night
two, will include a run around the Jersey club sports complex
and the third evening to be a repeat of the first event, but at
the Torakan Judo Club.
The Oakwood Judo Club will
be creating their very own Superstars event, within which the
junior ages groups will complete against each other and the seniors
will have their own competition. Events in the superstars competition
will be exercise based will include, dips, push up’s, squats,
and sit up’s.
Emma Davies, Executive Director of
the British Judo Trust said, “This is such a great example of
spreading the word of judo across many areas, different communities
and varying age ranges. This has come at such a welcoming time,
as within the next couple of months the British Judo Trust will
start to circulate grant application forms to start to support
different individuals and clubs across the country and celebrate
the growth of this sport.”
