May Madness 2009 – Get your Club fundraising!

Make Sure Your Club Doesn’t Miss Out on May Madness 2009

The British Judo Trust’s annual themed fundraising month for judo clubs is back. This initiative means that organising a fundraising event has never been easier, as you will be provided with everything you need to have lots of fun whilst also raising some valuable extra funds for your club!

Any Club that organises a fundraising day or activity as part of the month of judo will keep 50% of the total amount of money raised by their club. The other half of the money raised will go to the British Judo Trust, to benefit the sport across the UK as a whole.

After a successful May Madness in 2008, with over £5000 being raised, we hope that this year will see more clubs taking part. Last year’s activities included:

Sponsored throws

Superstars event

Sponsored fun runs

Fun Days

Fight Nights

Judo Taster Evenings

What will your Club choose to do this year? Getting involved is really straightforward – the process is as follows:

  • Send an email to info@britishjudotrust.org.uk to register your interest and to request a fundraising pack or contact Emma Davies-Carolan on 01509 631693
  • Once you receive your pack, use the information enclosed to help you decide on a fundraising activity, a date and a location
  • Use the templates provided in the pack to promote your fundraising activity within your Club, in your local area and on the British Judo Trust website
  • Have fun whilst raising money for your Club and for judo in the UK!

Extra Incentives!

As an incentive for clubs to get involved, we are offering a VIP box at the 2009 GB Men’s Judo World Cup to the club that raises the most money (terms and conditions apply), to the second highest fundraising club, the Chairman of the British Judo Association Densign White will take a club session (terms and conditions apply).

Those clubs that raise over £400 for the British Judo Trust (£800 in total) will receive eight entry tickets to the 2009 GB Mens Judo World Club.

Terms & conditions

VIP Box

The club that raises the most sponsorship money will be given a hospitality box for the period of the World Cup – 19th & 20th September 2009. Times will be applicable for entry and exit of this box and this will be at the discretion of the British Judo Association. The hospitality box will be allocated by the British Judo Association and there will be no variance on this decision. The hospitality box will have a maximum capacity and the winning club will be advised of this prior to the event – this is set by the NIA and cannot be changed at any time. Children must be supervised by adults at all times and it is at the discretion of security should people be asked to leave the hospitality box. Should there be two clubs with the same winning amount of sponsorship they will have one day each in the hospitality box – the British Judo Association will make the decision on which club attends on which day.

For the winning club(s) to gain this prize all sponsorship forms and funds need to be received by the British Judo Trust.

Densign Session

The club that raises the second largest sponsorship amount will be awarded with a visit by Densign White, the Chairman of the British Judo Association and he will take a judo session at that club. The date and the timing of this visit and session will made by agreement with Densign White. This visit will be organised via the British Judo Association. Should there be two clubs in second place Densign will do two visits and sessions.

For the winning club(s) to gain this prize all sponsorship forms and funds need to be received by the British Judo Trust.

Eight Free tickets

Every club that enters May Madness 2009 and raises over £800 in total sponsorship (£400 for the British Judo Trust) will be given 8 tickets for one day only – these can be adult or children. For a club to receive these tickets all sponsorship forms and funds need to be received by the British Judo Trust. Should clubs wish to purchase tickets and also include their free tickets, they must contact the British Judo Association with plenty of notice to book seats all together.
