Visitors will get the chance
to experience judo demonstrations, games and taster sessions in
various parks and open spaces across Nottingham during the rest
of July and August as part of Nottingham City Council’s Parklife
initiative.
Judo will feature in five
parks including King George V Park, Coppice Park, Forest Recreational
Ground, King Edward and Vernon Park. Players and coaches from
local judo clubs will be helping the British Judo Association
to show the people of Nottingham how judo could benefit their
lives.
Information on local judo
clubs including Cobra, Minver, Acer, Portland, City of Nottingham
and Long Eaton will be available at the events. Information on
new School club links that are being set up at Bilborough College
and Carlton Forum Leisure Centre (Wheldon School) will also be
available.
The Parklife event at the
Forest Recreational Ground on Thursday 6th August will be the
biggest of the five, attracting people from all over the city.
Under gazeboes in the parks, judo mats will be laid where for
the day, anyone can experience the sport.
Parklife was set up
by Nottingham City Council to encourage local people to be more
active in their communities and has successfully been running
for five years.
The parks that judo will
feature in are as follows and run from 11am – 4pm:
