A seventeen-strong British
team will split up to compete in World Cup’s in Poland and Czech
Republic on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 February as nine men travel
to Warsaw while eight women head to Prague.
The Polish World Cup will
feature three under 60kg fighters as James Millar and Gregg Varey
are selected alongside European u23 Champion Ashley McKenzie.
Danny Williams and Owen
Livesey will fight at under 73kg while Tom Davis battles in the
under 81kg category.
Matthew Purssey gets the
nod at under 90kg, James Austin at under 100kg and Chris Sherrington
will compete in the over 100kg category.
Coaches Go Tsunoda and
David Somerville will lead the team in Warsaw.

On the same weekend the
Czech Republic World Cup will feature Sophie Cox at under 52kg
and Gemma Howell at under 57kg.
Sarah Clark will be joined
in under 63kg action by Faith Pitman and Kate Walker.
At under 70kg Gemma Gibbons
and Megan Fletcher will both compete while Sarah Adlington completes
the team at over 78kg.
Coaches Billy Cusack and
Kate Howey will lead the team in Prague.
Meanwhile nine fighters
saw action at the Dusseldorf Grand Prix on Saturday 19 and Sunday
20 February.
The results included 2011
World Masters bronze medallist Euan Burton narrowly losing out
to eventual silver medallist Murat Khabachirov of Russia while
Tom Davis fell to America’s Travis Stevens who went on to win
the under 81kg category.
Ashley McKenzie was edged
out by Italy’s Elio Verde who advanced to take the bronze medal
while Gemma Howell lost out to Beijing gold medallist Giulia Quintavalle
of Italy who later took the final place on the medal podium.
