GB claims 20 medals with dominant displays at Samoa World Cup and Malaga European Cup

Great Britain produced a stunning 20 medal haul on the weekend as they dominated the Samoa World Cup and Malaga European Cup.

In Samoa, Great Britain also accrued hundreds of all-important ranking points which will ultimately determine the seeding for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The World Ranking List consists of points from seven events - World Cup, Grand Prix, Grand Slam, Masters, Continental Championships, World Championships and Olympic Games.

The Samoa World Cup saw 100 points available for gold, 60 for silver, 40 for bronze, 20 for fifth and 16 for seventh.

Chris Sherrington (+100kg) claimed the biggest result of his career as he won his first World Cup gold medal.

Karina Bryant (+78kg) and Sally Conway (-70kg) also topped the medal rostrum.

Winston Gordon (-90kg) scooped silver while Sarah Adlington (+78kg), Gemma Gibbons (-70kg) and Faith Pitman (-63kg) all claimed bronze.

Connie Ramsey (-57kg) took fifth while Tom Davis (-81kg) finished in seventh-place.

In Malaga the success continued as Great Britain claimed 13 medals.

Kelly Edwards (-48kg), Louise Renicks (-52kg), Natalie Powell (-78kg) and Andrew Burns (-90kg) all took gold.

Michael Horley (-90kg) and Adam Hall (-100kg) took silver while bronze medals went to Sophie Cox, Stephanie Inglis (both -57kg), Jodie Mullen (-63kg) and Fiona Jones (-78kg).

Brandon Dodge and Graham Trinder (both -60kg) also took bronze medals along with Theo Spalding-McIntosh (-90kg).

Gregg Varey (-66kg), Patrick Dawson (-73kg), Denny Roberts (-90kg) and Francesca Steggall (-48kg) took fifth-places.

Jan Gosiewski (-73kg) and Tom Reed (-81kg) both finished in seventh-place.
