For the first time in six
years, the competitive Area event known as the National Team Championships
will return as an in-house BJA event and will be held on the 17th
July.
This year the one day event
will take place at the Walsall Campus Sports Centre at the University
of Wolverhampton, a venue that has played host to various judo
events.
All Areas and Home Countries
are invited to compete against each other and have been sent communication
regarding the new rules as agreed by the Board of Directors and
a copy of the entry forms.
So, if you’d like to take
part in this event, get in touch with your Area/Home Country to
find out how to be a part of their team.
Last year saw the Northern
Home Counties team win the girl’s competition and the London Area
team won the boy’s competition. The Southern Area came out on
top in the women’s competition and the North West Area won the
men’s competition for the second year.
The Championships was launched
over 40 years ago, and has become the event of the year for Areas
and Home Countries to celebrate their National team players.
All of the added extras
of a BJA run event is to be expected, including the BJA merchandise
stand, personalised Area t-shirts and of course the action on
the mat.
Show your support for your
Area/Home County by cheering on your players in the crowd. Spectator
tickets will be sold on the day.
