Welsh Judo Association seeks Performance Director

Job Title: Performance Director

Responsible to: Performance panel comprised by Welsh Judo / Sport Wales members

Responsible for: Strategic Planning, Coordination and Delivery of the Welsh Judo Performance and Development Programme and attainment of its goals

Budget: up to £40,000

Location: Cardiff

Budget Responsibilities: Performance and Development Programme

Contract: Consultant – 12 months in the first instance

The Welsh Judo Association seeks to appoint a Consultant based Performance Director to be fully responsible for developing, managing and implementing the Welsh Judo High Performance Plan and to ensure that all activities fall within the scope of the Welsh Judo Performance and Development Plan.

Working with our existing full time National coach, and having the scope to appoint further support and development coaches, this is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a proven track record of managing change, and implementing effective and successful performance plans within high performance sport to demonstrate their vision and implement within a challenging environment.

The successful candidate must have a reputation as a highly respected and knowledgeable manager within performance sport and an extensive knowledge of sports science and medicine provision. The role will be responsible and accountable for ultimately delivering target medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and to ensure all agreed performance targets related to the Welsh Judo High Performance Plan are met.

The Performance Director will also maximize support for Welsh Judo Players in the British Judo programmes, the Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games programs and those Players on national squads by liaising with key partners as required.

The role is offered on a consultant contractual basis subject to continued funding for this post from the national sports agency, Sport Wales.
