On the 24th April, the
first ever seminar for young volunteers will be held at the High
Wycombe Judo Centre.
All young officials,
referees and time keepers or young people (under the age of 24-years-old)
interested in becoming a judo volunteer are invited to attend
this free seminar.
The seminar will be
a starting block to identifying the young volunteers of the Association’s
needs and to share new ideas.
It will also be an opportunity
for young people interested in getting involved in the volunteering
side of the sport to network and meet experienced volunteers.
All aspects of refereeing,
table officiating, safeguarding, Schools2Dojo programme and the
newly formed Youth Forum will be covered.
British Judo aim to create
pathways for young volunteers to be a part of the high level events.
After the success at the
2010 British Schools Judo National Individual Championships on
Saturday 20th March, with a group of young volunteers in action,
CEO Scott McCarthy hopes to see more young people running BJA
events.
“One of the challenges
that we face, along with many other sports, is getting young people
more involved in the other side of the sport," he said.
“The group of young volunteers
at the Schools Championships integrated well with a more experienced
bunch and it was fantastic to see them working together,"
he added.
The seminar will be from
9.30am – 4.00pm, with booking in between 9.00 – 9.30am and will
include a free buffet lunch.
