Bushido
Judokwai received their eagerly-anticipated Clubmark Award on
Monday 19 April.
The Shrewsbury-based
club received the award from the British Judo Association’s Chief
Executive Officer, Scott McCarthy.
The award
recognises the club’s hard work and dedication which it puts into
delivering the Olympic sport to the local community.
Bushido
Judokwai has been running for over 38 years and boasts an attendance
of 80 young players who are aged between 5 and 16 years old.
The club
has five BJA club coaches who have all come through the junior
section from around the age of 6.
Bushido
have recently formalised their link with the Priory School whereby
club coach Roger Houston is delivering judo sessions to GCSE students.
The club have increased their membership as a result and hope
to continue to enthuse many new young people to participat in
the sport and join their club with further formalised links with
schools.
Bushido Judokwai train at Ford Village Hall, Ford, Shrewsbury,
SY5 9LT. Men and women train on Monday and Wednesday at 20:00
– 22:00 while boys and girls train on Wednesday at 18:00 – 20:00.
